Everyone talks online about how easy it is to build a website and make money online. Is is really that easy or pure hype to get you to purchase the next great thing to hit the online market.

All I have to say is that it is not that easy building highly profitable websites online. But, you can learn how to build a website, that will be fully optimized for the search engines and highly profitable in a couple of weeks, using the same simple tricks I use daily. It doesn't matter if you want to build a website for free or for profit.

To win online, you have to build a website that gets free traffic from the search engines, and implement all other simple traffic methods like: posting to forums, using ads in ezines, submitting your site to link directories, writing reviews for other peoples products, reciprocal linking and pay per click.

First you have to learn how to do your onsite optimization, and for that you will have to:

1) Insert your keyword into the title of your page

It amazes me how many sites online don't have their main keyword in the title page. Just make sure to always include your main keyword in the tile page of your site.

2) Add Meta Tags

Not as important as it used o be, but I like to include it in every site I build. Add Description meta tags and your keywords meta tags.

Use one or two keywords per page only. Add your main keyword into your page description.

3) H1 Header Tags

Use your H1 header tag on each page, I always like to use a smaller font size, like 14pt.

4) H2/H3 Header Tags

Try and use at least one H2 or H3 Tags within the first three or four paragraphs

5) Last and First Paragraph

Make sure to start your first paragraph with your main keyword and to end your last paragraph with your keyword

6) Bold, Italize ad Underline your keyword

You must Italize and bold your main keyword just once, and you must use your main keyword to link out of your site to another website (use that link to create an underline keyword) , at least once.

7) The Alt Image Tag

Well, this is very useful if you have pictures that you will be including on your site. Try to use the Alt Image Tag for your pages, I use the alt image tag on my website header.

Those are the only onsite optimization tips that you should use on each and every site you build. Try to not make it look too obvious, and over do your web site optimization. Learn to build a website the easy way by just following the simple tips I have outline here.

For more optimization tips, try to get your hands on VEO Report by Colin Mc. Dougal. This is the best and most understandable guide to building fully optimized websites online.

I will leave you with one tip I learnt from The VEO report; Before you add any affiliate links to your website, you must first build a website that focus on pure content and include an about you page, and then submit that site to the open directories, like DMOZ.org, etc. After your website has been added to those free directories then you can add your affiliate links and start building reciprocal links and the above mentioned traffic methods will deliver even more traffic.

Now that you know how to build a website for fun and profit, it is time to learn by actually doing something with the information you just read. Go build your first website, the second will be better and your third will be a master piece.

Duh Idiot’s Guide to Starting a Home Business

Duh Idiot's Guide to Starting a Home Business

Word Count:
1060

Summary:
Why does everyone want to work from home??  I'll tell you why, because working 9 to 5 SUCKS!! Starting a home business is daunting, but don't  fret 'cuz "Duh Idiot" is here to help you get your home business set-up in 5-simple, but not-so-easy, steps.  Oh yeah baby!

Keywords:
starting a home business, work at home

Article Body:
"Starting a Home Business"…"Work from Home"…"Be a Work at Home Mom"…"Make Millions Working From Home" I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!!

So why does everyone want to work from home??  I'll tell you why, because working 9 to 5 SUCKS!!

Hey don't listen to me, here are the stats: According to The MicroEnterprise Journal "In the last 25 years, self-employment has grown by almost 300%, fueled by waning employee loyalty and growing worker dissatisfaction."  And the US Census Bureau reports that "90% percent of all U.S. businesses employ between ZERO and FOUR workers, making this the fastest growing segment of the business community."  See I told you!

Everywhere you look on the Internet we're bombarded with sites peddling "work at home" opportunities.  The stats prove it, we're all looking to get out of the 9 to 5 rat race.  The biggest problem is that MOST of the so called "work-at-home" related websites are so bogged down with clutter, fluff and double talk that you'd have to be a friggin robot to find and process the information you need in order to understand what the heck to do.

So where can an Idiot like me get the information I need contained in a simple, concise format that's easy to understand and follow?   Well nowhere really.  That's why I wrote this article and condensed the whole process down into 5 Summarized Steps, so that maybe other Idiot's like me will have a fighting chance in hell to get out of the "Rat Race".

Idiot Step 1:

SELECTING a business – simple enough right…wrong.  Questions to ask yourself:  What do I like to do?  What will make money?  What is available?  Can I make Money?

These are tough questions.  These days, most people are scouring ways to make money on the Internet.  If considering a TV or Internet program, do as much independent research as possible on the program you're interested in and find something that fits your personality so that you will excel no matter what.

Whatever you do use common sense and don't allow desperation to influence your decisions.

Start-Up Nation -  offers SOUND advice and has tons of RELIABLE resources for selecting a home business.

Idiot Step 2:

PLANNING your business. You will have to have some "form" of a business plan before you get started with a home business. Even if you are the only one that will ever read it, you should definitely put a plan together on paper.

An informal business plan should contain a start-up budget (money you need to get to the point of doing business) and an operating budget (money you need on a weekly basis just to keep doing business).

Be certain to include all overhead expenses and be sure to include a budget for advertising. Also you should note any significant milestones you hope to achieve and list your financial goals in a time-line fashion.

Idiot Step 3:

FUNDING your home business. Every business has start-up costs and your new home-based business will be no different.  As the old saying goes "You need money to make money".  So where do you get the money you need to start?

The simplest way for home business owners to get the money they need is from the principal owner's own pockets…that means YOU!   Like myself, many work at home entrepreneurs simply use their own savings to fund their businesses, using money from personal resources such as…

· Savings
· Personal Investments
· Credit Card Advance
· Sale of Assets
· Second Mortgage Loan

…are all ways to finance a small business start-up using your own funds.

The alternative to funding it yourself is to apply for a small business loan. The biggest issue there is that unless you have sufficient collateral, or any related experience in your field of business, you may not qualify for this type of loan.

The Small Business Administration -  has a TON of information and resources for start-up businesses. It contains valuable info on locating financing and it contains several links to other business resources, planning tools and calculators.

Idiot Step 4:

STARTING your home business.  Once you've chosen your great new home business, and have got your starting cash in reserve, it's time to get you up and running. But before you do, you will have to do some preliminary work just to get to the point where you can actually start operating.

Two-thirds of all small business are solo operations. Therefore, when you're a "one-man band", you must wear different hats and assume several roles as the "head" of various departments.

You're the CEO, sales manager, director of marketing, director of finance, the shipping clerk, receptionist, the janitor…you get the drift Fonzi?

Because of your heavy load, you need quality office equipment, supplies, software and business services to keep you, I mean your "departments", running smoothly and at peak efficiency.

Choose the right office equipment and machines that will keep you operating at peek efficiency.

Idiot Step 5:

MARKETING your home business.  Now that you've got your business funded and operational you will need to implement a marketing and advertising campaign so that you can start attracting customers and finally start making some money.

This isn't "Field of Dreams". If you build it, that doesn't mean they will come.

In order to draw customers to your business, you MUST do some form of repeated advertising, and you should definitely have a plan in place so that you can budget it into your overall Business Plan when you first start.

A good place to start is by reading Jay Conrad Levinson's series of Guerilla Marketing books. This is standard reading for any small business entrepreneur. You can learn some very useful and basic techniques that will help you form a great and inexpensive plan.

Everything contained here was condensed to fit into a short article format. Obviously there's a bit more to it. But if this Idiot' can do it, so can you.

Just don't be intimidated. Start off really, really small, maybe just part-time to start. Take one step at a time.  But whatever you do, just get off your keister and get started!

"U can do it…just dive into it"

Get Indexed by Search Engines in a Week

Get Indexed by Search Engines in a Week

Word Count:
461

Summary:
Contrary to all beliefs, you can get listed in Yahoo & MSN search engines within a week. To do this, you need to have a RSS feed for your website or blog.

Keywords:

Article Body:

Contrary to all beliefs, you can get listed in search engines very fast, provided you follow the right guidelines. You can get indexed by Yahoo & MSN search engines within a week. Getting listed in Google is tougher and takes a longer duration but following the right steps will help you get there faster.

First, I will discuss the steps to get listed in Yahoo and MSN within a week. To do this, you need to have a RSS feed for your website or blog. If you don't make one right now. Do a search to find out how to create one. Its really quite simple.

RSS feeds are going to be a powerful tool for internet marketing, at least in the near future. Ok lets get back to the original topic. Once you have a RSS feed, 90% of your work is done.

Now you have to go to your My Yahoo and My MSN accounts. You will find a link saying "Add Content" after logging in. In the search box, copy the link of your RSS feed and search for it. Once Yahoo/MSN retrieves your feed, just add it to your account.

And that's about it. Within a week's time Yahoo and MSN will send their feed crawlers looking for the fresh feed that you just added to your account. And unlike Google, they crawl your website along with the feed. Voila, you just got noticed and indexed by Yahoo and MSN. Simple and effective.

Getting listed with Google is a longer process but you can still do a few things to hasten it. The first step is to create a blog for your website. Use Blogger to create one and start making regular posts to it. But how will this help you get indexed in Google quickly? This is what you need to do.

Every time you make a post you need to ping blog directories to let them know about the updated content. Don't be scared - it's pretty easy. Go to pingomatic.com , fill in a few details as required and you are done pinging. Repeat this exercise with every new post.

Every time you use pingomatic, it informs various popular blog directories about your new activity. Search engines love fresh content and this activity helps them pick up blogs with new content. I have got sites indexed within 2 days in Google - but that was when I got quite excited about a new site and submitted 10 news posts in the first day itself.

I have had fairly good success in getting my websites indexed quickly using the steps mentioned above. Blogs and RSS are tools which you can use time and again to get indexed and good search engine rankings.

Avoid Outsourcing Disasters On Your Path To Internet Marketing Fortunes

Avoid Outsourcing Disasters On Your Path To Internet Marketing Fortunes

Word Count:
941

Summary:
It is certainly not a new concept to outsource work, but like so much else in our lives, the Internet has given rise to a new dimension of this popular technique. Because of this, there are a number of issues to keep in mind when looking at outsourcing as a viable alternative to doing it yourself.

Keywords:
outsourcing, outsource, internet marketing, how to outsource

Article Body:
Outsourcing is the latest buzz word to hit internet marketing circles, teleseminars, and niche websites. It is certainly not a new concept to outsource work, but like so much else in our lives, the Internet has given rise to a new dimension of this popular technique. Because of this, there are a number of issues to keep in mind when looking at outsourcing as a viable alternative to doing it yourself.

For good reason, outsourcing is a concept that internet marketing professionals and newbies alike should acquaint themselves with. Because a large number of internet marketers are running the show by themselves or with a limited pool of additional assistance, there are just too many tasks to complete alone. In addition to the time factor, it is simply not possible for any one individual to possess all the technical skills necessary to accomplish all aspects running an internet marketing business.

With time and skill level being the two primary factors that lead internet marketers to outsource, it is important to understand which of these two needs you are fulfilling when you proceed to outsource.

When analyzing your outsourcing needs on the basis of time constraints, it is advisable to have a good understanding of what an hour of your time is worth relative to the task at hand.

For example, let's say it takes you six hours to accomplish a redundant task and it would take about 15 minutes for you to teach someone else to do it for you. Then look at what you may be able to accomplish in that same six hour period. Would you be able to use that time to finish an ebook that could be resold for untold profits, or write thousands of lines of code to package and resell? If so, then any modest fee that is paid to outsource that redundant task could be worth its weight in gold.

Outsourcing on the basis of skill level becomes a little trickier and this is where most internet marketers who are new to outsourcing can get themselves in trouble. It is imperative to keep in mind that even though you may be outsourcing an activity that you are not capable of doing yourself, you still need to be in control.

This is your business and your image and income depends on it. Failure to have a firm grasp on what you are outsourcing will almost always mean that the end result will not live up to your expectations. And this is not productive for you or the individual you have contracted with.

Communication is the key component when outsourcing a task that you are not readily able to do yourself. For example, let's say you are not the greatest artist in the world and you contract with a designer to develop header and ebook cover graphics for your sales page. Telling the designer nothing more than the title of your ebook and expecting the graphics of your dreams to result is just not going to happen.

The more detailed you can be about your likes, dislikes and expectations, the greater the chance that you will be thrilled with the end result. Remember, just because the designer has skills that you don't, one of those skills probably isn't reading minds! If you don't like the color green, there is no way someone is going to know this unless you tell them.

Another area where internet marketers get into trouble is when the outsourcing project involves technical skills or programming. This can be particularly difficult if both sides are not communicating properly.

A non-programmer often sees a project as being far less complex due to a lack of knowledge about the mechanics involved in the programming process. End users are used to just clicking buttons and having things work; they never have to deal or think about what goes on with the coding behind the scenes.

This can have both an impact on the perceived value of the outsourcing bid as well as the time frame and ultimate functionality of the programming project. Misunderstandings with all of these things can be greatly reduced by taking time to clearly and concisely define the project parameters ahead of time. Again, the importance of communication here cannot be stressed enough.

Finally, it is never a good idea to outsource anything you don't understand or cannot measure. This isn't to say that you need to understand the mechanics behind the process, but you definitely need to understand the result.

For example, it is not unusual to see bid requests on popular outsourcing sites requesting 200+ inbound links from PR7 or greater sites to be completed within 24 hours. While this may or may not be an exaggeration, the point is, if you are asking for this and adamant that you want to get your money's worth, you better be prepared to have a means in place with which to judge someone's performance in completing this task. Otherwise, it is just a recipe for disaster.

Simply put, if you want something done to your satisfaction, you need to be prepared ahead of time to know when that point is reached.

Remember, outsourcing in many ways is just the virtual version of an employee or subcontractor. If you have ever been an employer who created a job description, along with it you most likely implemented a means of gauging the employee's performance. And as an employee, you knew exactly what was expected of you and the consequences of failure.

Today's outsourcing concepts are based upon the same time honored principles used in business throughout the ages and understanding this will greatly increase your odds of success.

Wise Article Marketing Strategies

Wise Article Marketing Strategies
Word Count:
536
Summary:
If you are an article writer, you may have been submitting your articles to ezines in order to get your name out there. Have you ever considered selling what you write? Good! Let's look at 7 options you can take in order to write for profit.

Keywords:
article marketing, article sales, ezines, profit, cash, money

Article Body:
If you are an article writer, you may have been submitting your articles to ezines in order to get your name out there. Ezines are wonderful in that they give the unpublished author the opportunity to market their name without the expense of advertising. At some point you may wonder if you can be compensated for your work. The answer: yes, you can. Through implementing wise marketing strategies, you can earn money for your work and receive steady income. Here's how:
<b>Your Website</b> If you don't already have your very own website, set one up and feature some of your favorite articles. You'll create an extra set of links to articles you already submitted to the ezines. Make sure you have a contact form in place to allow interested parties a way to get in touch with you.
<b>Blogging</b> A great alternative to a website are blogs. If you don't have the time or money to manage a website, you can create a blog and have links to your articles appear there.
<b>Message Boards/Forums</b> If you run a well respected and busy forum, consider letting your members know that you write articles as well. If you don't run a forum, but you are a moderator, ask the forum administrator for the opportunity to promote yourself in exchange for your work.
<b>Craig's List</b> This site is the king of all sites. You can post your resume, your small business ad, look for work, join a club, etc. In most cases no fees are ever charged and it can be a great way for you to network. At the very least, any link you place in your "ad" will quickly gain you a good link with the search engines. One caveat: most ads run from between 10 and 45 days, so you will need to manage your ads in order to remain marketable.
<b>Paid Sites</b> If you are serious about making some income on your articles, consider investing in yourself and joining a paid site. Many will allow you to have either a free trial period or a basic membership. To receive the full benefit of the site, you will need to upgrade. Guru.com is one such site for you to consider.
<b>Trade Associations</b> If you write on a specialized topic, such as railroads, contact your local trade association and see if they are in need of a staff writer. Many associations will give to you a small stipend. If not, see if you can get a free membership or some other type of discounted service for your work. Cash is cool, but free services are nice too!
<b>Email Lists</b> In this day of overreaching spamming, getting an email list together of people who will actually read your emails can be difficult. Instead, join a list-serv and discretely share your talents with members there.
Article writing for profit can take time and it will usually require a lot of legwork on your part before you get established. Still, it can lead to bigger and more profitable ventures for you as long as you stick with it. If you are good at it, it may allow you to quit your "day job" to pursue what you really want to do. What can be better than that?

Cyberbullying – A Dangerous Trend

Cyberbullying – A Dangerous Trend

What was once confined to the school yard has expanded into cyberspace, and these days, cyberbullies are causing more than just hurt feelings. What was once confined to the school yard has expanded into cyberspace, and these days, cyberbullies are causing more than just hurt feelings. Studies suggest that more than 42% of kids have been bullied while online. With serious results in many cyberbullying cases, including suicide, it is a concept that definitely deserves the attention of computer users on a worldwide basis.
What is Cyberbullying?
Cyberbullies use various aspects of technology to threaten, harass, or embarrass other internet users. Victims are often teens or preteens who live in the same area or attend the same school district as the cyberbully.
On a fairly frequent basis, cyberbullies send e-mails, instant messages, or text messages to the intended victim's mobile phone or computer. Cyberbullying can also include leaving hurtful messages on a victim's blog. From threats of physical harm to willfully disclosing personal data and photos to many other internet users, the harmful behavior perpetrated by cyberbullies tends to defame and embarrass victims. The cyberbullies of today tend to be the victims of yesterday, and bullies and victims trade roles on a fairly regular basis.
Cyberbullying can occur directly or indirectly. In the case of direct bullying, one bully communicates with just one victim. The messages they trade back and forth are only between the two of them. In the case of indirect bullying, others are involved with the process. Often adults are involved, and few of the bullies know the victim. Whether they manage to get the victim's IM account or blog banned or they encourage others to post horrible information about the victim, the danger is very real because so many individuals are ganging up on the victim. With more bullies comes more power and more damage.
Just One Example
On October 17, 2006, teenager Megan Meier committed suicide. Soon after opening a MySpace account, Megan had begun to correspond with an individual whose screen name was 'Josh Evans.' While the two spend some time corresponding, the tone of the correspondence changed dramatically in October. 'Josh Evans' sent several hurtful messages to Megan. The final one read, "The world would be better off without you." Megan hung herself that evening. Federal prosecutors are currently considering charges of both wire fraud and cyber fraud against the cyberbully who called herself 'Josh Evans.'
The Causes of Cyberbullying
Cyberbullies tend to be motivated by many different things. From anger at their victims to frustration with the world around them, cyberbullies often have a jumble of emotions that lead them to harass victims. Some cyberbullies even attack victims for entertainment or power. With so many aspects of technology at any given bully's disposal, cyberbullying is neither difficult nor uncommon.
Unfortunately, experts don't think all of the causes of cyberbullying are related to the causes behind traditional bullying. Studies have show that both the type of communication that occurs and the demographics involved with cyberbullying tend not to correlate with those of their offline counterparts, leaving lots of parents, school officials, and researchers in the dark as to the exact causes.
What You Can Do About It
The best way to handle cyberbullying is to prevent it from ever occurring. Educating potential victims and creating awareness campaigns can help to stop the process. Ensuring that both schools and parents are involved with internet use as a whole may also help to prevent it from occurring. Teaching kids to keep their information safe while online is another way to prevent cyberbullying.
If it does occur, it is essential that it be addressed immediately. While it may not be a case for law enforcement, getting the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and/or host site involved is probably a good idea. Keep in mind that every cyberbully attack is different, so helping the victim to clearly communicate the type of threat, the frequency of messages, the potential sources, and the nature of the threat will help to ensure that proper action is taken.
In some cases, law enforcement must be involved. Contact members of the police department if a threat of physical violence is present, if the material involved is obscene, or if physical harassment is taking place as a result of the cyberbullying. At times, civil prosecution may be an option as well. Should the victim's rights be infringed on during the bullying, it is a good idea to contact an attorney.
Potential victims must know how to respond to a cyberbully should they encounter one while online. In case of an incident, the victim should:
Ignore the emails, messages, or postings that use harmful language.
Not forward bullying messages to others.
Ignore emails, messages, and postings from known bullies.
Block the addresses of known bullies.
Show the messages to trusted adults including parents, teachers, or counselors.
An increasingly serious problem in today's technology based world, cyberbullying must be addressed on an ongoing basis.

Moving bulky or heavy items conveniently from one location to another can be a challenging factor when administering a safe and efficient working environment. By using the best tools for the job, you will find that a greater amount of ease and simplicity can be injected into the flow of materials through the workplace. The most convenient and effective method for moving such items is an aluminum gantry crane.

An aluminum gantry crane is a convenient and lightweight lifting tool that will allow you to hoist an unwieldy item off the ground and then roll it to another location, or simply suspend it above the ground for examination or repair access.

These useful tools have many different uses, and are sturdy enough to support up to 4,000lb in weight depending on their configuration and exact specification. They are also maneuverable and can easily be moved by a single person. While heavy duty enough to carry large weights, they are also designed to have a very low footprint, allowing for easy storage within a regular workshop without needing to be dismantled.

These aluminum gantry cranes have been designed to be sturdy and easy to use. The initial construction is straightforward, and once the crane has been finished, it is ready for use immediately. All of the cranes come with 4 fully locking and independent casters meaning that the gantry can be easily shifted with a minimum of effort, and kept in position when required.

Lighter capacity aluminum gantry cranes come fitted with pneumatic tires, allowing for easy out door use. They move smoothly over flat terrain, and are completed with heavy duty brakes to keep the gantry steady when in use.

Thanks to the simple construction of the cranes, features such as the full adjustability of the gantry height are easy to use. With a maximum height of up to 12 feet available on the larger models, the aluminum gantry cranes are perfectly suited to an environment where high lifting is required, such as an industrial workshop or a mechanics.

These aluminum gantry cranes are fitted with a powerful geared lifting motor that is able to comfortably secure heavy weights in place, and thanks to the large size of the crane, it is also possible to happily position the device appropriately above the area where you are working, and still enjoy access from all angles.

The cranes are robust and convenient to use, able to perform their tasks adequately, and thanks to the use of high quality aluminum throughout their construction, coupled with the stable design that ensures a steady footing when in use, you have a tool that you can genuinely rely on. With easy assembly and reliability as standard, it is easy to see why so many businesses already have faith in aluminum gantry cranes as a load bearing device that they use on a daily basis. With their simple and straightforward design making them so convenient to use and strong, you will find that your gantry soon becomes one of your most useful tools.

As it becomes more and more difficult to earn money with Affiliate marketing, earning money with Adsense is back. What is the most easiest way for a newbie to start an online business ?? Right: Adsense. You don't have to deal with customers. Do you know why a lot of people are hesitant to start an online business? Yes, because they fear to handle customers complaints and refunds etc. What do you think is the second big hurdle people are having problems with making money online.

They think they need to sell and are not sure where to get inventory from. Guess what, with Adsense you don't need to worry about inventory, storage, delivery etc. In simple words: Your write - You upload - You Earn ! You can simply start a blog, for example Blogger.com or Wordpress.com offer easy to use blogs. You can then start writing and adding content regularly. By doing this you will earn money from your Adsense ads you have incorporated into your site. Or you could start a directory, article or a big portal website. People add THEIR content to YOUR site and you are in business. But be aware that setting up those big directories is time intensive and costly. An alternative could be to purchase some Adsene-Ready Turnkey websites. You can simply modify one file with your Adsense code, and all article content pages automatically show Adsense ads with your code. You can then simply upload and advertise your article content pages. You will be surprised how easy it is to make money with Adsense.

Some people might think that Ready-To-Go Adsense site are a problem for search engines as they could show some duplicate content. I have another opinion about duplicate content. If I look for a specific article I want to read and I search Google, do you think this article comes up only once? No way. For example: Some time ago I have written an article and submitted to huge number of article directories. If the myth of duplicate content would hold true I would only find my article on one site or directory. But this article has been distributed through more than 7,000 different sites all over the internet. So, does Google still index 'duplicate content'. Sure Google does it – Big times. If Google would not index any duplicate content sites, thousands of article directories would be immediately out of business. And look at the trend !

Every day new article submission sites are born and all what they do is to show duplicate content. And do you think they earn with Adsense? You bet they are, otherwise they wouldn't have started this business in the first place. So, if you use a combination of Ready-to-go Adsense Turnkey sites and an article directory, you simply can't fail earning money with Adsense.

What Kind of Support/Training is Available?

Does the opportunity you're considering have enough support and training to help you through start-up? Depending on your personality and previous experience, you may only require general training, or you might require more personal assistance. If the home business opportunity is run through an already established company, make a thorough inquiry into the level of support they offer. If you can't get help when you need it, your clients aren't going to get the service they require. And that spells trouble for you.

What Kind of Compensation is Available?

Are you looking for quick financial rewards, or are you willing to wait a little while longer to see results? If your home based business opportunity is through an established company, check whether they have a rewards or incentive plan for their franchises or home business clients. If the opportunity is more self-driven, can you set realistic goals with this home based business opportunity that are actually achievable and financially rewarding?

Do You Believe in Your Business?
If you're considering a product-oriented home based business opportunity, do you actually like the products you're selling? Never buy into a business opportunity unless you're sure you have a product you can put some passion into selling – no one wants to buy something that the vendor doesn't really want in the first place! If the opportunity is more service-oriented, do you believe in the services you're selling? Do you think what you're offering is beneficial and will actually help others, or are you looking at it as a way to con people out of their hard-earned cash? Scams are easily identified in our tech-savvy society, and unless you're sincere and actually care about what you're offering to others, you're going to sink faster than an old cruise liner in a glacial ocean.

Keeping these things in mind, you should be able to choose a home based business opportunity that is right for you, that you believe in and that you are actually excited about investing your time and money in.

Increased turnovers, costly decreases in productivity and overall employee dissatisfaction are all ramifications of low morale in the workplace. Moral is a vital component of any organization or business for it to thrive and achieve success.

Here are five ways to improve workplace morale easily and inexpensively that will boost your team's performance and lower levels of tension and stress.

Install a Humor Board
Most every office has several memo boards for important work-related information, some pleasant, some not so pleasant. Install a memo board in a neutral location that is specifically for people to post jokes, cartoons, funny pictures or amusing anecdotes. This way everyone can get a little laugh after arriving for work on a dreary Monday morning.

Adopt Flextime Schedules
If possible, work out a way for employees to have more flexibility in their schedules. You may be surprised at the amount of stress that can be alleviated by this one thing. With daycares and households with two working parents, and possibly only one vehicle, this small move can be monumental to some people. Work out a schedule or system for employees to leave an hour early or come in an hour late on certain days. Alternate days and times so that everyone gets an opportunity to benefit if needed.

Get Away From It All
Hold meetings and conferences at a location away from the office if at all possible. A restaurant or local park would be a welcome alternative to a stuffy boardroom on a clear, spring day. People may be more alert and more receptive to the specifics of the meeting in another less stifling environment.

Share the Wealth
Offer employees incentives to "coach" their co-workers on their lunch or break times. Incentives could come in the form of paid time off, gift certificates to stores or restaurants, movie tickets or even small, simple mementos to show appreciation. This is a morale booster in a few ways; firstly, new or confused employees can glean valuable information from their more experienced colleagues and secondly, it may make the "coach" feel better about their job, themselves and their performance.

Offer Contests and Awards
Special days such as "Ugliest Outfit Day" or "Best Disguise Day" or "Funniest Story Day" can be a way to lighten the mood for a bit and encourage communication between employees. Offer "awards" which can be simple prizes and certificates given to the winners to display.

Boosting employee morale doesn't have to be expensive or involved. Even contagious cheerfulness on a regular basis can mean the difference between a dour workplace and a welcoming, productive one. Ask the employees for their ideas and listen to their thoughts. Work out a viable plan that will motivate them and make them more productive and happier at the same time.

Once someone's bought something from you on eBay, you suddenly have all sorts of details on them. In marketing terms, this information is gold dust. If someone's bought from you once before, then the chances are that at some point in the future they'll want to buy a similar item, and you can take advantage of this to market to them directly.

The simplest form of direct marketing is the email newsletter – and it's one that is still oddly underused on eBay. Simply ask people who buy from you if they'd like to be added to your mailing list, and then send them a monthly update on your new items. You should also include some information you think might be useful to them, to give the email more value.

For example, here's a newsletter you might write if you were selling DVDs.

"Here are the dates for this month's new DVD releases:

[list of release dates]. If you want to pre-order anything on this list, just click here [your website/email] and let us know.

Meanwhile, we've got some great deals for you this month! [links to your best ebay auctions]

You are receiving this email because you signed up for my newsletter when you bought an item from me on eBay. To unsubscribe, hit reply and type 'remove'."

Isn't that simple? As long as you can remember to do it once a month, people will come to like your information, and perhaps take a look at some of the things you're offering.

It's all about building up a customer relationship, and making the customer feel like you are providing them with some information they wouldn't otherwise have. Make your email a useful service to them, whether they buy anything from it or not.

Remember that it's not a newsletter without the news, and send out the best things you can think of: you might even try writing an article or two. Think of it as a free gift for your customers: the gift of useful information. Apart from anything else, it's quite fun to have your own newsletter.

If you sell items that a seller is likely to need more than one of, like auto parts for example, then you can even try highly targeted emails like this.

"I'm sending you this email because you bought a [item name] from me a while ago – I hope you were happy with it. This is just to let you know that if you ever need another [item], I'm currently doing special offers on them. [link]".

You would probably want to automate this, though, as it could quickly get tedious to do it manually.

Of course, that brings us on to our next subject: eBay stores. eBay stores offer you an easier way to sell your items than having to list them every time on eBay, and they have built-in facilities for targeted direct marketing. You can read all about it in the next email.
